With a background in both engineering and manufacturing, Mendoza is uniquely qualified in his role as an Energy Analyst at Aegis.
“I have a degree in engineering and worked in a manufacturing plant in the Philippines,” Mendoza said. “Having the degree in engineering, where there's a lot of math involved, has helped me a lot in dealing with this analysis job.”
Aegis Energy’s Combined Heat and Power systems deliver two forms of energy- heat and electricity, from a single fuel source (natural gas). The high-efficiency CHP systems significantly reduce energy costs and harmful emissions, as recognized by the EPA.
Aegis’ Energy Analysts perform a variety of functions, from aiding the sales team in determining the viability of cogeneration for a site, helping to secure grant funding for a particular project, to performing end-of-year reports.
Mendoza has been an Energy Analyst for seven years, and while he can be called upon for input on engineering issues such as an installation or design of cogeneration control panels, his real value is finding value for Aegis clients through his analysis.
Mendoza gathers utility billing information, site visit notes, and factors in building size and thermal loads to determine the energy savings a facility would experience with an Aegis modular CHP system.
“We first determine if cogeneration is a good fit for the building,” he said. “Then we determine the size and application that would maximize the efficiency and savings.”
Not only can Mendoza project the energy savings that can be expected with an Aegis Combined Heat and Power system, he also provides year-end analysis of those systems to ensure both savings and emissions reduction goals are being achieved.
Aegis systems are designed to reduce both energy costs and emissions for a variety of facilities, from healthcare and assisted living facilities, to recreational and multi-residential complexes, and hotels. There are also institutional, educational, and industrial facility applications.
The applications have proven to save tens of thousands of dollars annually for Aegis clients.
“By doing this we are providing customer service and ensuring satisfaction,” Mendoza
said. “And very often the savings exceed the projections.”
